'Hello'
Scrapbook Layout By Kripa Koushik

Hello friends,

Today is my final post for 2crafty as my term with them finishes this month. I have had
a great time working with this fabulous team lead by Vanessa and supported by Di.
I also thank all of you for your loving comments and encouragement.

"Hello"

My layout today is inspired by CSI Case 268 which
2crafty chipboard is sponsoring this month.

The base is a collage of vintage red and green pattern paper over which I've added some Lindy Stamp Gang mists and stamping. All the chipboard pieces were first coated with white gesso. In the below close-up two pieces are visible - View Finder and the title which is from Arrow Word Set 2.

The View Finder chipboard had some teal paint on it (probably painted for another project but never used). To conceal it, I painted over to make it look neutral and as close to the colour of the wood grain background pattern paper. The word 'Love' from the Arrow Word Set 2 was also painted the same way and then the word was coloured with red stamp pad.

One more piece behind the layers on the left side is the word Hello from the Word Bubbles Set. After painting with white gesso, Ive stamped over with red ink and a script stamp.

My final selection of chipboard is tiny arrows from the Mini Fast Forward Arrows Set.
They have been inked with black archival ink and used to direct the viewer towards the
photograph on the top right corner of the layout.

'Merry Christmas' CSI Case 267
with Kripa Koushik

Hi friends,

This month 2crafty chipboard is sponsoring the challenge at CSI - Case 267 and this is my take on it.For evidence, I used a background paper with grids, tags in the layers behind the photograph, stars, reindeer, string and lots of Christmas elements. For the testimony Ive documented something about Christmas and put my journaling on a tag.

I started by applying a layer of gesso on all the 2crafty chipboard pieces.

Two of the pieces - mini reindeer and star circular frame are covered
with metallic gold paint from Colourarte.

The Mini Bauble Tree was painted with metallic Teal paint.

This is my favourite part of the layout. I love how beautiful these two pieces
of chipboard look layered over each other. To colour the St. Nicks Snowflake,
I applied stamp pads in shades of green directly on the gessoed piece.
Once heat set, dab a little white gesso to get a distressed look.

Thank you for visiting us today.
Have a great week ahead.
Kripa

'Set yourself Free' Art Journal Page with Kripa Koushik

Hello friends,

My art journal page today was the after effect of listening to Oprah Winfrey on women empowerment.
I started with this video but then like youtube surfing goes, I ended up listening
to her for almost an hour!

"You get in life what you have the courage to ask for."

What stayed with me was this quote .....we have made so many rules and boundaries in our minds of what's acceptable or not, we need to break those first.... start with finding who we truly are!

After making the background with lots of handwritten positive affirmations and messages to myself, I started layering some very beautiful 2crafty chipboard pieces and each of these pieces were chosen to add meaning to the message I was journaling. As always, all the chipboard pieces were given a coat of white gesso. To color them, I used different techniques as explained below.

The lattice leaves were used to represent fresh ideas & new life being born. I used these lattice leaves on both pages after colouring them with 2 different green stamp pads.
Next, I coloured a piece of Ella's Border and the Pretty Birdcage pink & purple and then dabbed some white gesso with a sponge. The dainty Ella's border signifies to me the delicate yet strong spirit of a woman. The broken cage is quiet self explanatory - breaking free from rules, fears, habits and could mean different things to each of us.
Finally, The Winged Heart 2 was painted with metallic gold paint and again a tiny dab of white gesso and tucked under the fussy cut cage.

I hope you enjoyed todays post.
You can find more of my art journals & project on my blog www.thecolourpress.blogspot.com

Wishing you a creative week ahead.

Art Journal & Video Tutorial with Kripa Koushik

Hello friends,

My project today is a two page art journal spread in which I document my affirmations
 and thoughts for the future.
As always I've included symbolism in these pages too and 2craftychipboard had the perfect pieces for that - glasses, flowers and a postage stamp frame.
Scroll down further to see a video of how these two pages came together.

All of the chipboard pieces were coated with white gesso first & then coloured directly using stamp pads. Only the Glasses was coated with acrylic paint using a palette knife. You can see the texture created by the strokes of the palette knife in the close up below.
In this close up below, you can see how using an ink pad directly on a gessoed chipboard
piece gives a smooth coat of colour.
I hope you enjoy watching me create these two pages.

Thank you for visiting us today.
Wishing you all a very creative week ahead,
Kripa

Christmas Cards with Kripa Koushik

Hello friends,

My project today is a pair of Christmas cards using a few of the beautiful Christmas
themed 2crafty chipboard pieces.

As always, I started by applying a coat white gesso on all the chipboard pieces. The Xmas Deer Head and St. Nick Snowflakes were coloured using stamp pads. Once the ink dried, the Xmas deer head was stamped over with a script stamp & gold acrylic paint.

For this  card, the Mini Reindeer and St.Nicks Snowflakes were coloured with stamp pads. The Mini Bauble Tree was painted with gold acrylic paint. I cut the snowflake in two and tucked them under the pattern papers.

'Treasure' Mixed Media Layout & Video with Kripa Koushik

Hello friends,

My first project share for this month is a scrapbook layout, scroll down for a Video tutorial.

There are so many beautiful 2crafty chipboard pieces in the recent release, I was so tempted to use a handful to make this layout. Inspired by the autumn moodboards popping up in my instafeed this month, I chose to make a layout using Autumn leaves & Ivy clusters 2crafty chipboard pieces.

I love using photographs of my family & friends in my layouts and this page is no exception. The colour palette is centred around the colours in the photograph. Instead of using lace, I chose the Mandala No.2 chipboard in both 4 & 6 inches. I love how the background can be seen through the delicate chipboard. To ground the layers & cut through the pattern, Ive used a solid chipboard Formal Flourish in both the top & bottom clusters.

Here is a video tutorial of the layout.

Thank you for visiting today.
I hope you enjoyed the video tutorial.

Creative hugs,
Kripa

FUN - Shaker Mini Album
With Kripa Koushik

Hello friends,

My second project this month is a shaker mini album, circular in shape using
two very pretty 2crafty chipboard pieces - Fun Disc and Play disc to mak
e the front cover and back covers of the album.

For the covers both front and back, the chipboard was first coated with white gesso and then using Colourarte Silks, painted an ombre effect. Each layer of paint was air dried and then painted on again for about 4 layers. After the paint was completely dry, it was assembled into a shaker disc.

To allow for the sequins to move easily, I've used two layers of foam tape between the chipboard disc and pattern paper. I punched a hole through a circular piece of foam tape and wedged it between the acetate and pattern paper. On top of the acetate is a hole saver so that the circular foam tape wont be seen. This is so that the sequins wouldn't fall off through the eyelet hole.

I know everyone will want to remove the covers and give them a shake, so Ive used ribbons to hold the pages together making it easy to flip through as well. The album follows the format of photo page followed by journaling on the backside. These close ups were taken before the album was assembled, so each page and matching journaling panel could be captured in one frame.

This page and photograph are my favorite from the album so far. The bottom most layer of
chipboard is a Number Panel cut in two and tucked underneath layers of pattern paper.

Next, Ive cut a piece from the left over negative of the Polaroid Assortment Frames
and covered it with pattern paper(green with blue stars). Another such piece has been
used on the matching journaling panel of this page.

Finally, a piece from Airplanes was coloured red with an ink pad and
 embossed with clear embossing powder.

The 6" sea life frame set was coated with white gesso and painted on with acrylic paints.

For the fish, a tiny bit of neon orange paint was blended with the yellow paint.

I've also tucked in small pieces of Fishing Net Bits on either side of the photo panel.
For the journaling page, Ive added a turtle from the Sea Creatures chipboard set.

This final page happens to be my son's favorite and is from the book parade held at his school recently. All the chipboard pieces used on this page - Triangle clusters, a piece from View finder and a piece from the Glasses set were coated with gesso and then painted over with acrylic paints.

I hope you enjoyed reading about and seeing close ups of my project today.
Thank you for stopping by.

Wishing you a creative week,
Kripa Koushik

'Timeless' Mixed Media Layout
By Kripa Koushik

Hello friends,

My project this month is a 12x12 scrapbook layout,
inspired by the mood board at Mixed Media Place.

As always, all the chipboard pieces were given a few coats of white gesso. I've cut up
Ella's border into the individual flowers and tucked in between the layers. Can you
spy gold on the Ella's border flowers, its from gold foil that was lying around my desk.
I also added some gold foil to the background.

I've also tucked pieces of Circle Lace Panel under paper layers. This chipboard
piece was only coated with white gesso and stamped over in a few random places.

All the other chipboard pieces were sprayed pink.
Here is a close up of the left side of the layout.
