"Fun in the Sun"
Layout and tutorial by Marie Sabatier

Hello everyone,

Here is my second inspiration for this month of August.
Back from a scorching summer, I really wanted to create a playful and sunny layout,
as the title I chose indicates.
The photos show my grandson, Milan, on his first vacation.
I love the contrast of the color of his hat.

"Fun in the Sun"

I made a video tutorials that you can watch HERE

The chipboard used:

To begin, I apply a layer of white gesso.

With you, I'm testing the new Ranger inks from 49 and Market.
Each color is mentioned in the video, which you can watch on the YouTube channel.
It’s the first time I use the chipboards "Sea Creatures Set 1".
I find them really adorable, and they match perfectly with my baby photos.

Following the first base layer, I proceed with the finishes by adding more shades to improve the hue.
Playing with these inks is pure joy!

I relied on the colors of the ball, and I must admit that I am satisfied with the result.

I really like the whimsy of this title. It fits perfectly into my layout.

Watching the video is a good way to get more detail.

Thank you very much!

'Summer Fun' by Elisa Ablett

Hi everyone,

I'm back for a couple of guest appearances over the next few months and this is the first for 2019.

I thought I would do a twist on my normal beachy summery layouts and use a dark background and a whole heap of chippie with metallic waxes and I am really happy with the result.

I accidentally put a big blue waxy thumbprint right in the middle of the black background so I covered all the black cardstock with black gesso - who else thinks gesso fixes everything ? 😂😂😂

2Crafty Chipboard used:

Hexagons
Intricate Seahorses
Sealife frame set 6"
Fishing Net Bits
Bubble clumps
Sea Creatures
Summer Fun Title

Let's take a closer look !

I started the layout by laying the hexagons in the middle of the page
along with the Fishing Net Bits

The next pieces to be glued down were bubble clumps and the Sealife 6" frame.

Once all the pieces were glued down where I wanted them, I painted all of the chipboard with black gesso and let dry. Once the gesso was dry, I added a layer of Prima Metallic Sparks paint in Blue through the middle and on the seahorse.

Then it was time to start layering the different coloured Prima Metallic Waxes, I used a stencilling brush at first then smoothed over with either my finger or a makeup sponge to get that blended look.

The title 'Summer Fun' is painted with a teal/blue posca paint pen and then a small amount of Prima Opal Magic Wax rubbed over the top. I also painted a resin sea shell with blue metallic paint and then blended wax over the top.

It was a fun layout to create, all the layers worked together really well.

Well that's it from me today, I hope you have enjoyed my twist on the beach layout!

Until next time

Hugs x

Elisa

FUN - Shaker Mini Album
With Kripa Koushik

Hello friends,

My second project this month is a shaker mini album, circular in shape using
two very pretty 2crafty chipboard pieces - Fun Disc and Play disc to mak
e the front cover and back covers of the album.

For the covers both front and back, the chipboard was first coated with white gesso and then using Colourarte Silks, painted an ombre effect. Each layer of paint was air dried and then painted on again for about 4 layers. After the paint was completely dry, it was assembled into a shaker disc.

To allow for the sequins to move easily, I've used two layers of foam tape between the chipboard disc and pattern paper. I punched a hole through a circular piece of foam tape and wedged it between the acetate and pattern paper. On top of the acetate is a hole saver so that the circular foam tape wont be seen. This is so that the sequins wouldn't fall off through the eyelet hole.

I know everyone will want to remove the covers and give them a shake, so Ive used ribbons to hold the pages together making it easy to flip through as well. The album follows the format of photo page followed by journaling on the backside. These close ups were taken before the album was assembled, so each page and matching journaling panel could be captured in one frame.

This page and photograph are my favorite from the album so far. The bottom most layer of
chipboard is a Number Panel cut in two and tucked underneath layers of pattern paper.

Next, Ive cut a piece from the left over negative of the Polaroid Assortment Frames
and covered it with pattern paper(green with blue stars). Another such piece has been
used on the matching journaling panel of this page.

Finally, a piece from Airplanes was coloured red with an ink pad and
 embossed with clear embossing powder.

The 6" sea life frame set was coated with white gesso and painted on with acrylic paints.

For the fish, a tiny bit of neon orange paint was blended with the yellow paint.

I've also tucked in small pieces of Fishing Net Bits on either side of the photo panel.
For the journaling page, Ive added a turtle from the Sea Creatures chipboard set.

This final page happens to be my son's favorite and is from the book parade held at his school recently. All the chipboard pieces used on this page - Triangle clusters, a piece from View finder and a piece from the Glasses set were coated with gesso and then painted over with acrylic paints.

I hope you enjoyed reading about and seeing close ups of my project today.
Thank you for stopping by.

Wishing you a creative week,
Kripa Koushik

August Inspiration + a VIDEO
By Lilibleu

"Enjoy this Moment, This moment is your Life"

Hello fans 2 Crafty !!

It is my turn to present you my two layouts for August.

For this first project, I wanted a  very soft, flowery page with this very pretty picture
of a little girl and her cat, found on Pinterest.

2Crafty Products Used :

- Title Enjoy this Moment this moment is your Life
- Fanciful Butterfly
- Flourish adornment set 5
- Trudi's Vine
- Arrow word set 2

I have based my page from Lindy's Gang's August challenge :

I cut the title in half to set one part above the picture and the other underneath.
I painted it in blue and I sprinkled some purple flakes.

The "Trudi's Vine" flower is painted purple, the "Fanciful Butterfly
is painted white and then sprayed with blue ink.

Here's the other part of the title.

The "Flourish adornment set 5" are painted blue and the word "friends" is painted purple.

"Magical"

When I was realizing this page and its video, we were going through a period of very strong
heat here in the South of France: the temperatures easily exceeded 40 °C in the shade.
I was just melting down! I think these temperatures made me want to choose the marine
environment as a theme for my project, to imagine a bit of coolness.

2Crafty Products :

- Sea Creatures
- Sabine's Frame Set
- Bubble-clumps
- Fine word set 2

I realized my project based on the July thematic challenge of Mixed Media & Art:

The large "Sabine's Frame Set" round is embossed with a golden powder. The
little turtle is also embossed in gold and I gave some texture to its carapace by
mixing gesso, 3D powder, plastic micro-spheres and paint.

The starfish was worked the same way than the shell of the turtle. I love the "Bubble-clumps
in the set, there are several different sizes in it which is perfect for any projects. I embossed
them in blue and I added some small touches of golden powder.

The "Magical" title is painted gold.

And that's all for today!
See you back here soon with some more 2Crafty inspirations.
