July Inspiration - 'You are Awesome'
By Elisa Ablett

Hi Crafters,

Elisa here from the design team for 2Crafty with my latest inspiration for you!

A mixed media layout featuring loads of awesome 2Crafty chippy goodies and
a background created with gel plates, paint and stencils.

TIP - use shapes to draw focus to your photo -
a few different sized chipboard circles can frame your photo and add balance in your design
while chevrons are perfect for 'pointing' the way 👉 >>>

Here is my layout, I also added some stencil work using the new and awesome stencils from Aga Baraniak, some light stamping, punched book paper, as well as paper weaving, paper rolling and wire.

I think this lends the design of the layout to be unique and eye catching
and perfect for those teen boys in our lives!

Let's take a closer look!

I coloured the chipboard circles and chevrons with distress paints to match my background.

You can see more of the background work and design in this close up.
The circle gel plate background complements the Chipboard Circles
and the circle stencil work.
I also added rolled circle paper strips plus punched circle book paper.

The title was coloured using a white sharpie paint pen,
perfect for a good clean coat of white on your chipboard pieces.

In this photo you can also see the stencilled barcode and more of the gel plate background.

I loved adding the orange splatters in the background, I used
Marabu Art Acrylic Spray.

Don't be afraid to use bright colours in your layouts and pair it with a white title, I left small shapes of white in the background in the stencilling and in my paper weaving to balance the white title as well.

Here are the products used from 2Crafty -
You Are Awesome - title
Chevrons
Circle Stack

Chevron Bits (units of 3)You are Awesome (unit of 3)
Circle Stack (units of 3)

That is all from me today, I hope I have inspired you to try bright colours
and shapes to create a layout that is eye catching and unique!

April Inspiration by new Design Team Member
Elisa Ablett

"Adore You"

Hi there 2Crafty friends !

Elisa here from the design team with my first post and inspiration as part of this fabulous team.

Here is a list of the 2Crafty products used -
Morrocan Bits
Sharon's Butterflies
Adore You Title
Film Strip medium

For the title - Adore You, I heat embossed it with
Colour Blast Black Charcoal Embossing Powder.

To add some texture to my background, I added the Morrocan Bits, heat embossed with Colour Blast Royalty Embossing Powder. I also added a couple of pieces to the top left and bottom right clusters of my layout.

Another great technique to cover chipboard is to ink your pieces with an ink pad and sponge dauber.

I love a chipboard film strip piece to add a vertical line to your layout. I heat embossed the
film strip with Colour Blast Black Charcoal Embossing Powder. I find the Ranger
embossing liquid dabber excellent in covering large pieces of chipboard.

To create my background, I stamped with a Prima flower stamp and handpainted
with water colour paints and a fine round paintbrush.

I also stencilled with black modelling paste through a new Aga Baraniak stencil.

💜💜💜💜💜💜

My second layout for this month is titled

'' Shine ''

Here is the list of 2Crafty products used -
Chevrons
Fine Words 2
Star Frames
Stars

I painted a few of the stars and chevrons with a lovely buttercream coloured paint
from Ceramcoat.  I also inked a few of the stars with black ink.

Once I inked a few of the stars and star frames with black ink, I used a quick and
cheap foiling technique that I discovered using a bostik glue stick, foil sheets
and a large stiff paintbrush. It creates a lovely distressed look to your foiling.

I painted the title chipboard piece very carefully as its quite fine, while
it was drying and pliable, I molded it around the large star frame.

I created the large background circle with my 8 inch circle gel plate and combination of a navy and buttercream paint. I also added some black ink around the edges of the circle and some stencilling.

I have a favourite technique at the moment which is adding scribbly writing around my frames.

I hope you have enjoyed looking through my first post, I know I feel incredibly honoured to be offered a position on this team full of so many talented people working with amazing products.

Make sure you leave me some love xx

Hugs

April Inspiration and VIDEO tutorial by Tammy

Hello 2Crafties!!
Tammy here today to share this month's projects.
I have a couple of layouts and a VIDEO tutorial to share with you all.
First up I have a layout titled:

'This Boy'

A layout about my boy and his gift with children.
I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:
"6 inch Revolution Frames"
"Chevron Bits"
"This Boy Title"

I applied black gesso to the "6" Revolution Frame" and then embossed it with a
distressed rust emboss powder.  This gave it a grungy metal look.

I applied the same emboss powder to some of the 'Chevron Bits', but achieved a totally different look by simply applying white gesso first, instead of black gesso.

It looks much more rusty and copper in colour than the circle frame.

To the other parts of the 'Chevron Bits' I added various ink colours until I achieved a grungy look I was happy with.

I just love the versatility of  2 Crafty Chipboard!!

For the 'This Boy' title, I applied black gesso and then clear emboss powder to the 'this' part.
To the 'boy' section, I used various ink colours until I achieved the grungy look.

I love the titles with two different fonts, and I love finding different ways to alter them.

I've created a video, so you can see EXACTLY how this page unfolded.

I hope you enjoy it.
I'd love some feedback!

My second creation this month is titled:

'Sightsee'

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:

'Sightsee Title'
'Fir Xmas Tree'
'Thistle Shrub'
'Summer Leaf Stems'

I painted the 'Summer Leaf Stems' with a few coats of white gesso and tucked them in between my photos.

Next I grabbed the two 'Fir Xmas Trees' and trimmed off the star on the top and the pot on the bottom.
They are the perfect shape for my layout (minus the Xmas feel) as this layout is about taking our USA family to my step-dad's home.  He lives in a forest, surrounded by Pines and Gums so these trees were perfect.

I then applied watercolours in various shades of green to achieve a dappled look.

To the 'Sightsee Title', I added a variety of Inks until I achieved a grungy, earthy colour I was happy with.

I placed this on top of my cluster.

I also added in the 'Thistle Shrub'

I left this raw, as I felt it went well with the earthy natural tones of the layout.

I really love all the natural fibres in this layout, and I enjoyed altering the chipboard to match in with this.

I have an extra share today - a layout I recently created for Scrap the Girls and their current Challenge Challenge- all about 'Me'.

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard:

"Gigi's Flowers"
"Mini Branches"
"This is Me Title"

I applied Black Gesso to the title 'This is Me'.

I then applied some Finnabair Opal Magic in Aqua/Rose to just the 'Me' section.

I applied black gesso to the 'Mini Branches' and tucked these throughout the layout.

I applied a few coats of white gesso to the 'Gigi Flowers' and scattered these through the layout.

Lots of vibrant colour, lots of journaling. Very ME!!
