You rock my world
by Sabrina Turpin

Hello 2Crafty fans!

My big boy is growing up too fast! This week he's leaving for a full week-end by himself to go to a big swimming competition. It's the first time he'll be so far from home by himself! He's growing up to be such a wonderful boy. That's why I decided to create a layout of him sending his love to the world. I'm sharing this layout with you, I hope it'll give you some inspiration!

"You rock my World"

On the "Stars" chipboard, in the back, I applied a black embossing ink and a glittering pencil on top (that's why it's shimmering like this). For the the "Swirly Star Border", in the front, I used a black gesso and then I applied some green wax on top that gives that metallic gold look.

On the "Checkerboard Clumps", I used some mint green embossing powder. For the title, "You Rock My World", I used a shabby green embossing enamel.

For this layout I used the following chippies:

Stars [M00265]
Checkerboard clumps [M00584]
Swirly Star Border [DB0110]
You rock my world [W00402]

That's all for me today! I hope you enjoyed this layout and it helped inspire you to create great stuff! I'll be back in a few weeks with more ideas to share with you! Cheers!

August Inspiration by Elisa Ablett - 'Smile'

SMILE

Hi Everyone,

Elisa here from the design team with my latest inspiration for August, a mixed media layout with a quick and easy technique for creating a unique background using your chipboard!

I  have used the Shimmer Dylusions sprays with my layout and various types of coloured embossing powders, I am sure any type of spray and powders with work the same for these techniques.

TIP- don't be afraid to pair different sorts of chipboard together, in my layout I have used Alphas, light bulbs and stars!

I have added a small step by step tutorial for you to show you how I created the
simple but effective background technique using your chipboard alphas.

Step 1 - Carefully pop the letters you need out of the 12 x 12 sheet, I used the word 'Smile'

Step 2 - Using old plastic packaging and washi tape, mask off your two side areas leaving the
centre of your page clear to start your background. Decide where you would like your title to
end up and lay it out, centring the letters.

Step 3 - Spray your first colour over the top of your chipboard,
then continue up the page with your other colours as per the photo below.
I used a lovely lime/green and a yellow/gold for the top.

Step 4 - Whilst your page is still wet and runny with spray, gently tease
the top washi tape off your mat and tilt your page forward,
towards yourself letting the gold run into the green and so forth.

Step 5 - Add some orange and gold splatters to your page, dry thoroughly, then once dry using tweezers grab your chipboard off the page and put aside to use on another layout.

Then gently ease the washi tape off and throw rubbish away!

Add extra scribbled edge border as per the main photo.

Embossing - I embossed each of my pieces with different coloured embossing powder
including white Ranger, Colour Blast and Zing.
I matched my colours pretty close to match the background.

I also wasn't too concerned with fine embossing, I love the multi coloured
distressed look, this can get messy so I love to use an embossing
liquid for this task instead of an inkpad.

Here are some close ups of the finer details!

Outline your chipboard mask title with a fine black marker to give it more definition.

Use a 'ray' stencil and a distress tool and blend metallic ink underneath your lightbulb pieces
to create your 'shine' behind the light.

Add foil accents to the top and bottom of your background using
a cheap glue stick and a stiff brush.

That's it from me today, thanks for stopping by the blog
Make sure you leave me some love xx

February Inspiration with Sabrina Turpin

Hello 2Crafty fans,

It is my turn to share my February layouts. Playing with the 2crafty chipboards is
always a pleasure.
I hope you'll like my layouts as much as I had fun to making them!
.
"Hello Beautiful"
Hello Beautiful is a layout made with the school photo of my daughter.

In the "Hello Beautiful" layout, I embossed the "Feather" chipboard
 with a copper embossing enamel.

The "Pointed Doily Frame", the "Decorative Disc Set #1" and the "Winter Twig Branches"
are inked and embossed with different colors of embossing ink.

For the title, I used  aged white embossing enamel.

"Perfection"

For my "Perfection" layout, I decided to use a black background
that I found gave it gave a boyish look.

For this layout, I used the "Diamond Chunks Bits" as a background, which I
embossed with silver powder and then used black embossing ink on top of it.

I diluted some charcoal paint and applied it to the "Swirly Star Border".
This gives a nice effect where the chipboard looks very roughly painted.

For the "Steampunk Gears", I also used paint, but a metallic navy blue one which I diluted less.

For the large "Wire Star" in the background, I used regular undiluted grey paint.

Finally, for the title, I used white embossing powder on the word: Perfection.

I also have an extra layout to present, because I'm a guest designer the CSI blog.
I created this layout for the #248 CSI: Colors, Story, inspiration.

For this month, 2Crafty Chipboard is sponsoring their challenges.

I used "Hearts Clumps" for the background. I applied a white gesso on it and
I applied some waterpaint powder to the background.

I left the "Mini Branches" chipboard at their natural color. For the little
"Messy Square Frame", I used a glittering embossing powder.

Finally, for the title, I used the word "Love" from the "Fine Words Set #1"
 and applied embossing ink.
