'Set yourself Free' Art Journal Page with Kripa Koushik

Hello friends,

My art journal page today was the after effect of listening to Oprah Winfrey on women empowerment.
I started with this video but then like youtube surfing goes, I ended up listening
to her for almost an hour!

"You get in life what you have the courage to ask for."

What stayed with me was this quote .....we have made so many rules and boundaries in our minds of what's acceptable or not, we need to break those first.... start with finding who we truly are!

After making the background with lots of handwritten positive affirmations and messages to myself, I started layering some very beautiful 2crafty chipboard pieces and each of these pieces were chosen to add meaning to the message I was journaling. As always, all the chipboard pieces were given a coat of white gesso. To color them, I used different techniques as explained below.

The lattice leaves were used to represent fresh ideas & new life being born. I used these lattice leaves on both pages after colouring them with 2 different green stamp pads.
Next, I coloured a piece of Ella's Border and the Pretty Birdcage pink & purple and then dabbed some white gesso with a sponge. The dainty Ella's border signifies to me the delicate yet strong spirit of a woman. The broken cage is quiet self explanatory - breaking free from rules, fears, habits and could mean different things to each of us.
Finally, The Winged Heart 2 was painted with metallic gold paint and again a tiny dab of white gesso and tucked under the fussy cut cage.

I hope you enjoyed todays post.
You can find more of my art journals & project on my blog www.thecolourpress.blogspot.com

Wishing you a creative week ahead.

Lisa's May Projects

Hello 2 Crafty Chipboard friends!
Lisa here to share my projects for May.

Please remember while you are here  to become a blog follower & leave a blog comment to
be eligible to go in our monthly draw for a great chippie prize pack.

"Marie"

I recently read a book about Marie Antoinette, and I was inspired to make a page about her.

2 Crafty Chipboard pieces used:
'Pretty Birdcage'
'Viney Page Frame'

I chose the 'Pretty Birdcage' piece which I thought suited the theme really well.

For both chipboard pieces I covered them in thick white gesso, heated them with
my heat gun until it bubbled, and then colored them in some brown ink.

My second project is a pair of botanical cards.

2 Crafty Chipboard pieces used:
'Viney Page Frame'
'Frames Tiny Kathleen's'
'Card Word Set 1'
'Card Word Set 2'

For the 'Viney Frames', I covered it unevenly with white gesso and then
painted them with moss green ink. And the word pieces and the little frame, I
covered them with white gesso, and then painted them unevenly with light gold paint.

Lastly I wanted to share a layout I created for a Guest Design spot at Kiev SkrapKlub.

Kitty Lives With Intention
By Jennifer Snyder

Hello - Jennifer Snyder here today at 2Crafty presenting a layout with warm rich colors for Autumn.  Yes, it's Autumn where I live.  I'd gladly swap seasons for Spring, BUT since that won't happen, I have to make the most of Autumn.  So I'll do that with my wonderful 2Crafty Chippies.

This is Kitty living with intention.   You can clearly see what she is intending - and she's up to no good.  But never fear, the birds fly away safely and this has a happy ending for all.

This page is a collaboration between 2Crafty and the wonderful Oct. kit from Flying Unicorns.

I chose some designs from the July new releases; "Bird Set", "Pretty Birdcage", and
"Live Everyday With Intention" - title.  I didn't do anything fancy with the chipboard.
The birdcage is beyond gorgeous on it's own so I left it "as is" because it blends perfectly
with my page.  I did paint the birds with acrylic paints to make them stand out.

Here are the images of the 2Crafty chippies I used:
"Bird Set

 "Pretty Birdcage"

  "Live Everyday With Intention"

I also left the  sentiment natural as well.  Look at how beautifully it blends.

Painting the chipboard birds made them standout.

Thanks so very much for stopping by.  Happy scrapping.
