'Adore' layout by Hetty Hall

'Adore'

Hi there and welcome to the 2Crafty Blog', Hetty with you today.

 2Crafty products used:
- Steampunk strips
- Steampunk Gears Medium
- Hashtag word set 1

Who says you Can't use flowers on a boy layout? I think these
gorgeous flowers from '49 and Market' are just perfect.

I teamed the flowers up with the 'Steampunk strips and gears'
which has given it a real masculine look.

I added pewter embossing powder to the 'Steampunk strips'
and black embossing powder to the 'Gears'.

I kept the sentiment pretty simple, added white Gesso and white embossing powder.

Some art stones finished it all off and added some extra texture.

That is it for this month, hope I was able to inspire you in some way.

Until next time....

Hugs

Hetty

August Inspiration "Forever" by Hina

Mixed Media Layout - Forever

Hello there..
I am back with my second inspiration for the month of August and I designed a mixed
media layout in vintage theme. I chose some antique designs of chipboard pieces for this.

I used two different ways to color the chippies. For Nella's Frame and the mini word "Forever" I used Lindy's Embossing powder in "Twilight Bronze Slate" and for the Flourish Adornement set, I used Finnabair's Metallique paint in "Golden Moss".

I also added a touch of Gilding flakes on Nella's frame for a more vintage look.
I layered the chippies with scraps of distressed papers and cheese cloth.

2Crafty supplies used:

Nella's Frame
Flourish Adornment set 1
Mini word set 2

Hope you enjoyed the post and got inspired!!

August Inspiration by Elisa Ablett - 'Smile'

SMILE

Hi Everyone,

Elisa here from the design team with my latest inspiration for August, a mixed media layout with a quick and easy technique for creating a unique background using your chipboard!

I  have used the Shimmer Dylusions sprays with my layout and various types of coloured embossing powders, I am sure any type of spray and powders with work the same for these techniques.

TIP- don't be afraid to pair different sorts of chipboard together, in my layout I have used Alphas, light bulbs and stars!

2Crafty Chipboard used -

Light Bulbs
Swirly Star Border
Alphabet B/G Font
Stars

I have added a small step by step tutorial for you to show you how I created the
simple but effective background technique using your chipboard alphas.

Step 1 - Carefully pop the letters you need out of the 12 x 12 sheet, I used the word 'Smile'

Step 2 - Using old plastic packaging and washi tape, mask off your two side areas leaving the
centre of your page clear to start your background. Decide where you would like your title to
end up and lay it out, centring the letters.

Step 3 - Spray your first colour over the top of your chipboard,
then continue up the page with your other colours as per the photo below.
I used a lovely lime/green and a yellow/gold for the top.

Step 4 - Whilst your page is still wet and runny with spray, gently tease
the top washi tape off your mat and tilt your page forward,
towards yourself letting the gold run into the green and so forth.

Step 5 - Add some orange and gold splatters to your page, dry thoroughly, then once dry using tweezers grab your chipboard off the page and put aside to use on another layout.

Then gently ease the washi tape off and throw rubbish away!

Add extra scribbled edge border as per the main photo.

Embossing - I embossed each of my pieces with different coloured embossing powder
including white Ranger, Colour Blast and Zing.
I matched my colours pretty close to match the background.

I also wasn't too concerned with fine embossing, I love the multi coloured
distressed look, this can get messy so I love to use an embossing
liquid for this task instead of an inkpad.

Here are some close ups of the finer details!

Outline your chipboard mask title with a fine black marker to give it more definition.

Use a 'ray' stencil and a distress tool and blend metallic ink underneath your lightbulb pieces
to create your 'shine' behind the light.

Add foil accents to the top and bottom of your background using
a cheap glue stick and a stiff brush.

That's it from me today, thanks for stopping by the blog
Make sure you leave me some love xx

More August Inspiration
By Di Garling
"Treasure The Little Things"

Hi everyone, thanks for calling by. Today I have a layout to share with you
that I have used a couple of the NEW RELEASE pieces of 2Crafty Chipboard on.

 2Crafty Chipboard Used...
"Treasure the Little Things" - title - NEW RELEASE
ATC Word Banner Set - NEW RELEASE
Mini Flourish Bits
4" Mandala - NEW RELEASE

I love this title "Treasure the Little Things".
I have given it a couple of coats of white acrylic paint & when dry
I very lightly wiped a Prima "Farmer Jeans" dark blue ink pad over the top half.
Too easy.

I have used a few pieces of the "Mini Flourishes" poked in here & there.

Here you can see I have used our NEW release "4" Mandala" circle.
I cut it in half and have poked a piece in either side of the photos.

This "Mandala" is such a lovely piece. It also comes in a 6" as well.

For both the "Mini Flourish Bits" & the "Mandala" I firstly gave them a coat of
white acrylic paint & when dry I very lightly wiped them over with another Prima Ink pad.
This time I used Prima "Teak Wall" & then wiped most of it off with my finger.

I just wanted a hint of the brown colour.

Another NEW RELEASE chippie piece I have used is one of these
"ATC Word Banner Set" words- "So Sweet".
Just the perfect little sentiment.

Well thats another layout complete. I hope I have inspired you to
try some of the gorgeous NEW RELEASE pieces on your next project too.

Until next time...

Tam's back again.....includes a VIDEO!!

Hi everyone
Tam here today to share some more 2Crafty goodness with you all.
This one's titled...

"Magical"

A page telling the story of a recent fancy dress party.
I love the bright bold colours against the black.
Yep, surprise surprise, this page has bold colour!!
I guess it's my signature style, but the photo and theme really called for it.

I used the following 2Crafty Chipboard on this page:
"Grid Bits"
"Fine Word Set 2"
"Lina's Swirl"
"Element Set 1"
"Starbright Snowflakes"

I began by painting all of the chipboard, except for the title in a few coats of white gesso.

I applied white acrylic paint to the "Grid Bits" and the "Lina's Swirl".

I knew these would pop against the black background and bold colours.

I tucked "Lina's Swirl" underneath my photo, and the "Grid Bits" underneath all the layers.

To the "Starbright Snowflake", I added a variety of Dylusions Ink Sprays.
Instead of spritzing them on, I applied them direct with a paintbrush.
This gives a more concentrated colour.
I layered the colours as I really wanted to create an ombre look that complemented
the background. I used the colours "Fresh Lime" and "Polished Jade".

I also used this technique on the "Elements Set 1"
I really love the Moroccan feel of both the shape and the effect I
achieved on the chipboard. It really helps to 'tell the story'.

I tucked both of these pieces amongst the layers.

Finally I added black gesso to the "Magical" Word from the "Fine Set 2".
I laid these down the side of my photo.

I have created a video of the layout so you can see it all come together.
You can see EXACTLY how I created the background, and how I created the
ombre finish on the pieces of chipboard.
Hope you enjoy it!!

I'll be back again really soon with some more inspiration
