Hi everyone, today I'm sharing my last layout for October.
The end of October is traditionally Halloween time. But I'm not really into Halloween anymore since my kids have grown up.
That said, I AM into pumpkins! Pumpkin bread, pumpkin cookies, pumpkin pie, pumpkin spice coffee creamer ... just about anything pumpkin! This is really the only time of the year that I have it, when the weather cools down. So I thought this layout was perfect for my appetite!
embrace TODAY
2Crafty goodness I used:
Berry Branch
Filmstrip Small
Floral Spray
Fine Floral Photo Adornment Set 1
embrace TODAY
All of the chipboard was first coated with Gesso to prime it for altering.
I placed one the Floral Spray stems on the left side of the photo. I Painted the stems with a mix of Spanish Moss Chalk Paint and Primary Yellow Acrylic Paint. I splattered on a little Titanium White Paint on the tips, I don't know, just for a different effect.
I painted the flowers with a mix of Cadmium Orange Hue and Crimson Red Light Hue Acrylic Paint, then added in a little Barcelona Beige Chalk Paint to tone it down because it was really really bright. It's bright here, but it was ridiculous before!! To finish it off, I added on a few Prima Pearls in the center of the flowers.
I snipped off a little piece of the Berry Branch, painted it with White Gesso and tucked it in at the base of the flower stem.
I cut off the bottom flower from the Floral Spray used on the left, and placed it here at the upper right of the photo. Then I tucked in another snipped off piece of the Berry Branch.
I really love the Fine Floral Photo Adornment Set 1. Such an intricate beautiful piece. I used it here to lengthen the whole composition and add interest under the pumpkins and title.
First I painted the whole thing with Spanish Moss Chalk Paint mixed with Primary Yellow Acrylic Paint, the same as the stems on the Floral Spray. Then I cut out orange paper and glued it under the flower. Lastly, I dotted on several of the Prima Pearls in the center of the flower. I really like how using the orange paper to define the flower balances with the orange from the top of the layout.
I chose the title embrace TODAY because I certainly do embrace pumpkin time at my house. Especially baking! I painted it with Sheepskin Chalk Paint. I wanted it to be a creamy color, like her dress, not white. This worked well.
I wanted more texture under the title, so I used the Filmstrip Small extending from the pumpkins all the way past the photo to anchor that whole area. I simply painted it with Black Gesso so that everything on top of it popped. Also, because of the black in those fabulous butterflies!
So that's my take on the Halloween season. Hope you like it!
I'll be back in a few weeks with another layout featuring our much coveted 2Crafty Chipboard. Until then,
xx
