Gypsy Soul
If you've seen my posts, you know I always like to use Gesso to prime my chipboard before altering. You want to give whatever you use to alter your chipboard with a good base. This ensures you get the color and texture you want.
When I decided to use the 1.5 inch Hexagons, I thought - How can I use this to get a good background?
Well, instead of painting it with a solid color, I decided to use it to create texture and dimension. I had 2 pieces of the background paper, so I outlined the Hexagons on the paper, lining it up with the design where I wanted it to go on the background, and cut out all the little Hexagons. I glued each one on top of the chipboard, and then I glued that on the background, lining it up again with the design. I'm really happy with the dimension it created.
I placed one of the Brush Nut Floral Clusters under the flowers. I left the stems painted with White Gesso, and painted the nuts with Ochre Acrylic Paint.
I added another one of the Brush Nut Floral Clusters on the right, also tucked in under the flowers, to create balance.
The title Gypsy Soul, was perfect for this photo! This was painted with a combination of Light Pink, Deep Violet and Unbleached Titanium Acrylic Paint. I wanted it to be the same color as the flowers.
Then beneath the title and photo, I added more of the paper covered 1.5 inch Hexagons, lining it up to flow with the design on the background.
Hope you like this, and will try different ways of altering your chipboard. So many possibilities!
Until next time, happy scrapbooking!
