April Layouts by Debbi Tehrani

"Froggy Friends"

We were so delighted to have 2Crafty sponsor CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration last month!

  Before we start....
Please remember while you are here  to become a blog follower & leave a blog comment to
be eligible to go in our monthly draw for a great chippie prize pack.

I made this page featuring my nephew for Case File No. 195. I had 2Crafty pieces to meet
several of the Evidence clues--hearts, polaroid frames, speech bubbles, clouds.

Here are some details...

The "Thought Bubble" was a perfect little canvas to hold my title, which came
from the "Friendship Mini Words Pack." I covered the speech bubble with a pale green
patterned paper and outlined it with a Pigma micron pen. I also covered the "Polaroid
Assortment Frames" with a patterned paper. The title was coated with gesso and then
green stamp ink.

The sweet clouds came from the "Mini Weather Icons" set, and that fun sun is from the
"Dancing Suns" pack. I covered the clouds with patterned paper. I coated the sun with
gesso and then colored it with orange stamp ink. I punched a circle out of patterned paper
and topped the sun with that. I love the "Polaroid Assortment Frames." They are such
a great starting piece for building an interesting cluster on a layout.

I used the "Chevron Bits" to point to the little frogs Christian is holding in the photo.
I coated these pieces with gesso and then green stamp ink. I added a little "Folk Heart"
with teal paper, again outlining it with pen.

"Be Brave"

That's my little sister on her first day of kindergarten. I'm working on an album of some of our childhood photos to give to my mom for Mother's Day, and this is one of the pages.

I had this black "be brave" card, and I wanted it to look like a chalkboard, so I covered it with
a frame from the "Polaroid Assortment Frames" set, which I painted white. These frames
are so great, not only for framing photos, but for framing other page elements and for layering.

I also painted the "View Finder" white, outlining it and then backing it with a floral print.

I coated the word remember from the "Line Words - Goodtimes Borders" with gesso
and then used walnut ink to give it a vintage look.

The "Funky Bird" was a perfect adornment for this childhood memory page. The Remember line word served as a sort of branch on which my little bird could perch. The line extenison of the word was the perfect opportunity to dangle one of the many charms I have in my stash. For a wing, I topped the bird with a heart that came from the inside of one of the "Heart Silhouettes." I painted the little bird's twiggy legs and then topped her and the heart-wing with patterned paper. I added a googly eye and drew on eyelashes.

Before I go, I'd like to share an additional layout on which I used some 2Crafty pieces.

"Monstrosity"

I made this for a Case File at CSI: Color, Stories, Inspiration, which is open for the
entire month of April.

Cogs and gears were one of the clues, and 2Crafty has some awesome "Gears."

By the way, 2Crafty has an awesome assortment of monsters and robots. I didn't use them on my page because they were too large for where I wanted to put them (I scrap 8 x 8), but you should grab some of these 2Crafty monsters and come play with us at CSI!

some ideas for using the awesome 2Crafty chipboard!

October Layouts by Debbi Tehrani

"You Are My Sunshine"

This photo was taken at a concert this summer,
and when I saw how the sunshine lit up my husband,
I knew the 2Crafty title would be perfect
to highlight this moment on a layout.

I inked part of the "You Are My Sunshine Title" with navy stamp ink
and then used bright yellow embossing powder on the rest of it.
The circle from the "6" Circle Revolution Frames set"
was perfect to highlight my photo. I also inked that blue.
I used a frame from the "Polaroid Assortment" as an additional layer.
This frame was treated with white embossing powder to give it a glossy white finish.

Of course a sun was needed for this page, and 2Crafty has this fun sunburst
in the "Mini Weather Icons." The clouds came from that set too.
I used yellow embossing powder on the sun, and the negative space in this piece
is perfect for adding a little something extra like the puffy sticker I used.
I added white graph paper on top of the clouds,
along with some enamel dots for added interest.
The date from "2015's" was tucked into the Polaroid Frame
and coated with the same white embossing powder.

"Life Documented: Best Greetings"

This is my step dad who passed away last year.
I've been making a album for my mom, and this is a cherished memory.
Ed loved picking out the perfect greeting card,
and he'd read every card in the shop in search of the perfect one.
Although I don't have a picture of that specific memory,
I did have this set of photos of Ed reading a birthday card I gave him.
He cherished the cards people chose for him too!

I used two different embossing powders on the "Life Documented" title.
I covered the "documented" part of the title with paper
and stamped my embossing ink on the "life" part.
I coated a fine paintbrush with the embossing ink
to paint the part of the "f" that overlapped the bottom part of the title
and then embossed "life" with Ranger platinum embossing powder.
I used white embossing powder on the bottom word
and used a paint brush for the parts that got close to the overlapping "f."
The "Pen Nib" (which comes in a set of 12, some with words, and some plain)
was also coated with the platinum embossing powder.
I coated it unevenly to give it an antique look,
and tied some twine around it for added texture.

I originally wanted to title my page "You always gave the best greetings,"
but I just couldn't make it work. However, the idea of "best greetings"
was important to my page, so I used it as a subtitle.
The word "Best" came from the "Mixed Sentiment Card Words,"
and the word "Greetings" came from the "Xmas Mini Word Pack."
I used the same embossing powders that I used on my main title.
Don't throw away the backing sheet of your 2Crafty Chipboard.
The frame I used was a piece leftover from the "Polaroid Assortment Frames" sheet.

The "Funky Bird" (which comes in a set of 6) is a fun accent
and was perfect for holding my journaling label.
I coated him with brown ink and then added a punched circle of patterned paper on top.
The hearts in one of my patterned paper made me think of using a little heart
from the "ATC Tiny Hearts & Stars" as a wing.
A googly eye gave this funky little bird an added touch of whimsy.

I added a few extra hearts from the "ATC Tiny Hearts & Stars" to the top of my page.
This is a wonderful set to buy, as you get 60 stars and hearts,
and they are always the perfect embellishment
when your page needs that little extra something-something!
