let's go
by Robin Schelin

Hi everyone. I'm back sharing my last layout for May.

I love Sunflowers. They grow wild in the fields and along the highways here in Colorado. They are everywhere! So beautiful. Even though the flowers in the photo aren't Sunflowers, I think that Sunflowers work.

  let's go

2Crafty Chipboard I used here:

Square Collage Panel

Foliage Set 14

let's go

As usual, the chipboard was first given a good coating of White Gesso before painting. Gesso is my favorite primer to use on chipboard.

I used pieces from the Foliage Set 14 all around this layout. I needed contrast with the Sunflowers, and these little beauties were perfect.

I also needed a color to contrast with the yellow. I always try to pick up the colors of the photos I use, and this one was a no brainer! Because the little girl has Navy blue in her dress, these flowers had to be Navy as well. I painted the stems with Spanish Moss Chalk Paint and the flowers with Nautical Chalk Paint.

The same flowers were added in here on the left of the photo.

Then on the bottom of the layout I added one more Piece of the Foliage Set 14 just to draw the eye down the layout.

The title, let's go, was painted with Nautical Chalk Paint, the same as the flowers of the Foliage Set 14. I wanted to create as much contrast on this layout as I could, so painting the title blue seemed the way to go.

At the top of the photo, along the right side and here the bottom, I used the Square Collage Panel to create interest and dimension. I cut it up and painted the pieces with White Adirondack Chalk Paint. I wanted it to be subtle against the other brighter colors. It also plays off the white in the design of her dress, as well as her hat.

Thanks for stopping by today. I hope you like this summery Sunflower layout. See you back again next month!
