All Smiles
by Robin Schelin

Hi everyone.  I'm back sharing my first layout for February.

I love the natural look of this paper, and these flowers, from the Whispering Way Collection from 49 and Market. I think it's perfect for this cute little girl. I only used a few piece of Chipboard here, because I thought that a few well placed pieces was all this layout needed. Hope you like it.

Filmstrips Medium

Heart Clumps

All Smiles

Some of the chipboard was primed with White Gesso, and one was not! I usually prime all of it, but on this layout I did something a little different. I'll explain below...

Ok, the explanation. Originally I did prime the Filmstrip Medium with White Gesso, and then I painted it with Spanish Moss Chalk Paint.

Well, I didn't like that color, so I turned it over to try a different color. The messy underside surprisingly looked great, (with no Gesso), so I decided to go on ahead and use that! I always make a mess on the back side of the chipboard I'm altering, and most of the time it looks awful. Not this time, though.

I cut a few of the solid hearts from the Heart Clumps set and placed them inside the Filmstrip at the top and bottom of the photo. I painted them with Glacier Chalk Paint, then added a brown pearl from my stash on each of them.

Here is the bottom of the photo with the Filmstrip and Hearts. I really love the look of this Filmstrip! I'm going to have to make sure I pay attention to the back side of the chipboard after painting from now on. You just never know!

The title, All Smiles, just captures this little girl's personality. So Cute! I painted the title with White Adirondack Chalk Paint. I wanted it to pop against the other colors.

And that's it. I hope you like this and that it has inspired you to look at your "messes" in a different light. You may be surprised at what you find.

Until next time
