Hi everyone. I sharing my first layout for October.
I love this photo! Just a sweet little girl walking barefoot through a garden. Reminds me of my own girls when they were sweet!! They are all grown up now, and they're great. But as they were growing up, sweetness often times turned sour! Teenagers, if you know what I mean! I do like to remember the sweet times. This photo takes me back.

I Can't stress enough the importance of priming your chipboard before altering. Raw chipboard is like a sponge, it just soaks up the medium you use. It could become weak, and sometimes you will get a darker color than you intended it to be. I know, I have messed up my fair share of chipboard before learning this trick! Gesso is my go to, but any paint primer will do as well.
On the upper left of the photo, I tucked in a piece from the Foliage Set 15. These little gems have become one of my favorites for adding a little "extra" in my flower clusters. They're small, and they fit perfectly. All I did here was to paint it with Sheepskin Chalk Paint.
I love the Iron Fence. I don't know if you've noticed, but on the upper right in the photo, there's an Iron Fence! So using this on the sides of the photo was a no brainer. I like to use the photo itself, if I can, for inspiration as to which chipboard I use.
I cut the fence in half so I could use it on both sides of the photo. I painted it with a mixture of Pewter, Bronze and Black Acrylic Paint.
Here is the other half of the Iron Fence on the right of the photo. Using it this way creates flow in the design. I'm all about the 'big picture' when scrapbooking. Here I tried to create a scene around the photo, sort of like painting a picture.
On the bottom of the flower cluster coming down from the fence on the right, I added another piece from the Foliage Set 15. This was to compliment the other cluster on the top left. You really can't go wrong with these little chippies! They add interest wherever they go!
I struggled with what color to paint the title, dream A LITTTLE DREAM. But then I decided that even though it doesn't exactly go with the colors in the layout, per se, I would paint it the same colors as the phrase strips on the upper right on the photo. This way all of the words are the same. I've never really done it this way before, but it works.
I painted the word "dream" with a blend of Parisian Gray, Oatmeal, and Adirondack White Chalk Paint. I love the Chalk paints. They give such a smooth finish. The rest of the title, 'A LITTLE DREAM', was painted with black Gesso.
Well, that's it for me today. I hope you like this layout and that I have inspired you. I'll be back in a few weeks with another layout to share with you using our favorite 2Crafty Chipboard!
Until then
