Hello everyone! Helen back with you here today to share my latest creations for 2 Crafty!!
Behind the photo mat, as well as on top of the actual photo, I used some circles from the 6"Circle Revolution Frames. I love these pieces, they are the perfect way to bring circles into your composition & the fact that they have several curves to them, rather than just one, makes them look really artistic I think!
Life has been a bit assaulting for me lately so I had a real desire to create something soft! I made up a gesso wash for my background, using a dry brush of gesso mixed with a couple of wet brushes of water & stirred together then painted over my base paper with a wide pastry brush.
I also used 3 butterflies from "Sharon's Butterflies"so I still have 5 left in the pack! I think it's always best not to overdo things & use too much of any one thing. I embossed my butterflies with White Gold embossing powder then sponged over the top of them with white acrylic paint to tone them down.
I often use chipboard to ground other elements onto my pages, here I have used gauze underneath them as it is so pretty & soft & attaching it this way & saves having to glue it down which can cause it to lose it's soft, whispy look. I use Tombo glue (with the green lid) as it has a lovely fine nozzle, & is very strong & dries clear.
I used the 12"Doily Border under my photo, at the top & again at the bottom, as well as on the opposite side of my layout. I recoloured it gold using a Ranger Paint dabber then sponged it with white acrylic paint. I didn't prime the border with gesso first as I wanted more of a natural look so the paint absorbed & the look is more matte than shiny, just as I wanted!
For my 2nd share today I created the layout above,
using the Circle Words Set 1 {just 2 out of 6 of the word circles},
which make for awesome titles. I simply embossed them with Olde Gold.
Above you can see I also used the 1" Hexagons sheet {about half of it},
which I adhered individually, in a diagonal design across my page
before beginning to add the different mediums.
I also used the Chicken Wire sheet, cut into various different pieces,
behind my photo stack, as well as in my embellishment cluster.
I painted it using a gold paint dabber then sponged over
randomly with white acrylic paint, to soften the look.
I added gesso followed by various different mists, over the top
of my hexagonal shapes. Lastly I sprinkled on some Tsukineko
Goosebumps spray, that leaves a clear texture like water droplets.
Lastly I am sharing an art journal page I created last month for
Scrap Around The World, using the Floral Branch. I embossed
it purple then sponged over it with white acrylic paint.
Remember that chipboard works GREAT for art journal pages, because
it is light & flat, yet it makes a wonderfully fancy embellishment!
I used an archival Pitt Pen from Faber Castell to add some lines onto my flowers.
Chipboard is such a versatile embellishment as it comes raw & you dress it up!
I hope I have inspired you in some way to use up your 2Crafty chipboard!
