A Christmas Tradition Tag
With Karan Gerber

Hi friends and welcome to the 2 Crafty Blog today.

Its Karan Gerber here with you once again to host the blog and I have another Christmas Tag
to share with you using some of the Christmas Chipboard pieces that 2 Crafty has to offer.

With Christmas on my mind I thought it would be nice to create some Home Decor as this beautiful tag would be perfect sitting on a plate stand with fairy lights around the bottom.

The base is designed on a Tim Holtz etc tags and these are a very
thick chipboard designed for mixed media.

2 Crafty Chipboard Used:
Chicken wire
 Ornament Border
 A Christmas Tradition Title

I heat embossed the title in white, the ornaments were cut apart from the border and
used individually and heat embossed with Crimson embossing powder.

The Chicken wire was embossed with Ancient Amber embossing powder and I cut it in half.

I love how this tag turned out and I hope I have inspired you to think about your
 Christmas Home Decor!

Until Next Time: Happy Scrapping

My October Shares by Margaret Mifsud

Hello everyone and welcome to the 2Crafty Blog!!
Margaret here to show you my October creations using some gorgeous 2Crafty Chipboard!
I have three very different cards to share with you today.
The first is feminine in pastel shades, then I have a masculine step card to show you
and the last card is again feminine but in a more mixed media style.

So, here is Card No. 1

2Crafty Chipboard pieces used:
Flourish Adornment Set 5 - 2 pcs
Frames Tiny Kathleen

I wanted the flourish adornment pieces to stand out a bit from the rest of the card
but I didn't want a lot of colour so they were very lightly brushed with Wild Honey
Distress Ink.   Then one piece was placed at the bottom of the cluster ...

... and the other piece at the top.

I usually like at least a few layers on my cards so you can see a paper doily, some gauze and a small tag with the Tiny Kathleen Frame placed over the top.  The frame was coloured with Versa Magic Cloud White and clear heat embossed and I then added a Tim Holtz word Band to complete the card.

Next is the Masculine Step Card.

2Crafty Chipboard used:
Asst. Arrows
Chevron Bits
Gears
Compass
Chicken Barbed Wire Small

All of these chippies were coloured with Kaisercraft Red Gum and then I randomly added Lapislazuli and Silver to the Gears and Arrows.   I also randomly added some clear embossing powder.  I wanted these pieces to look aged so didn't want them shiny all over.  As you can see, I also curled some coppery wire around the arrows.

For the greeting, I first coloured these two arrows and then wrote on them by hand before clear heat embossing them.  The Chicken Barbed Wire was coloured the same as the other chippies but was not heat embossed.

Tied this little cog on with some twine and added the chunky arrow.  I really love how this turned out.

The Chevrons were added to the side panels to match in with the paper.

I must say I really love making masculine cards, and having such awesome chippies
to work with makes it even better.

Last but not least, (my fave actually) is the mixed media feminine card.

2Crafty products used:
Interlocking Grid Panel
Word Circles Set 1

The background on this card was actually created for an Art Journal page but, as I never finished the page, I thought it would work well as a card instead.
The Word Circle was painted with Acrylic Paint and then sprayed with Pearl Glimmer Mist.  Unfortunately the shimmer doesn't show very well in the photos but it looks quite pretty in real life.

I cut a piece from the Interlocking Grid Panel and also covered it with Acrylic Paint
and Glimmer Mist.  Added some thread and micro beads for a little more texture.

A piece of gauze, some flowers and gold stamens ... add to that a pretty bow
 and my card is complete!

I hope you like my cards and that I have inspired you in some small way.  I really love working with these 2Crafty chippies and there are so many fabulous designs to choose from.
Thank you so much for visiting and enjoy the rest of your day!
Take care and God Bless.

Helen Tilbury's August Projects
An Off-The-Page Project, a Mixed Media Card & a Layout

Hi everyone!
Helen here with you again today to share what I have been up to lately!

First up is an altered wood piece.  I've had this piece of wood floating about my
home for over a decade :)  I really cannot tell you how it came into my life but it
has been moved from cupboard to drawer & back again over the years & I was
sick of seeing it!
I started off  by painting it with white modelling paste & an
old credit card.  This was a fairly messy job & used up quite a bit of modelling
paste but if you use a craft mat the clean up is easy with some wet wipes & a
trip to the sink.  Use a HARD modelling paste so you get lots of form & structure.

Before I began layering all my elements I used some gelatos on top of the modelling paste,
once I had dried it off with a heat gun.  I used brown, red & blue to match the photo &
blended them over the peaks & roughness of the paste, using a baby wipe.

The effect adds grunge & a masculine look, which is what I was after.  This piece is a Christmas gift for my daughter's boyfriend.  I also splattered some black Aladine ink at
the top & bottom to show once the photo cluster was applied.

I used both sizes of 2Crafty Chicken Barbed Wire {small & medium} as part of my layering.I used about a half sheet of each.  The trick is to cut off sections randomly & slide them underneath your layers {therefore do NOT adhere your layers right at the edge but rather about 1inch in - so that there is space to push elements underneath - I use my awl to do this}.   As I wanted a very rustic look on my chipboard I used gelatos to colour it & wiped them to blend, using some kitchen paper.  I avoided baby wipes because I didn't want to weaken the chipboard with moisture.  I also used one photo adornment from the
Flourish Adornment set (they come in a set of 4) & 3 out of 4 leaves from the
"Tiny Leaf Stems" which are a staple for me - use them all the time!

On the leaves I used 3 different colours of gelatos as well as some Aladine ink which
you can see has given them a lovely sheen.  I used the chipboard to anchor some
gauze underneath it, which works well for a masculine, grungy look, together with
some mesh fabric in black & beige & some black mesh stamping that I added as
a final touch, once my photo stack was glued down using a glue gun.

If you like a layered look then chipboard is your very best friend as it can be tucked in all
over the place & works perfectly for clustering too.  For Mixed Media effects chipboard is
also perfect as it lends itself to so many different mediums & techniques & is a great product
to experiment with & on.  I always treat my chipboard with a primer (this time I used
clear gesso) as that definitely helps remove the absorbent quality of chipboard which
makes for more bold & vibrant results.

I'm really happy with how the gelatos worked out on the leaves for the shaded effect & highly recommend  them for use on chipboard to create this effect.  To create this piece,
once you have prepared your wood block (or you could use a canvas in the same way)
get your photos & layer from the TOP TO THE BOTTOM then attach  THE ENTIRE
STACK once it is complete.  Thereafter tuck in your chipboard pieces & mesh.
That is the only way you will get such  a look.  Use your nails along the edges
of the papers to rough them up a bit so they are not entirely flat.

Now onto project 2 - a Mixed Media card.  This card actually took me 2 hours to create,
which I agree is way too long, but I am not an experienced card maker!  I started with
white cardstock & my new Prima Color Bloom sprays then added some modelling paste
through a stencil.  I use 13arts paste for this as it is light-weight & glossy & you don't
want something too heavy to weigh your card down.  I also sprinkled glass beads
into the wet paste which has made the card rather heavy but with double-cardstock
at the back this can be balanced out as long as you are not posting abroad!

I used the Chicken Barbed wire as before but painted it with white Aladine ink for a pearly effect that is only appreciated in person.  I used the "I Believe in Santa" title
& treated it with Aladine ink straight from the bottle as it has a dropper.  The colour
is very intense & shiny.  Perfect for Christmas!  I always use Tombo Mono Adhesive
(with the green lid) for adhering fine pieces of chipboard.  The strength of it is
phenomenal but make sure to have a ruler & set-square handy to align your
words straight quickly as it sets quickly & permanently!!

Lastly I am sharing a recent layout I created for 7Dots Studio, using lots of little bits of
2Crafty chipboard once again.  Behind my photo stack I have used a couple of
 Thistle Shrubs & Leafy Silhouettes.
These are THE PERFECT EMBELLISHMENT for Australian & African
scrapbookers as they are so indicative of our dry landscapes.

After priming my chipboard pieces with regular gesso I misted them to match my layout
& added some black archival ink to dirty them up a bit.  I also used 5 out of 6 of the
Leafy Silhouettes.  I love the lightness of them, being able to see the background
through them makes them blend in so easily & seamlessly.

Don't be afraid to have your chipboard pieces completely covered in the centre, with both
the top & the bottom sticking out from under your photo stack as I have done here.

I hope I have inspired you with one of my projects today & you head to
your nearest stockist  to get your 2Crafty fix.

Chipboard is something that should form a part of every scrapbookers stash for the sheer
versatility of it & it is also an inexpensive embellishment compared to many these days!

Looking forward to sharing again with you next month!

Marg Mifsud - My very first 2Crafty Post !!

Hello everyone!!  I am so excited to be sharing my very first 2Crafty projects!!
I was thrilled to bits when Di Garling and Vanessa Tiberti invited me to be on this
amazing Design Team.  Thank you so much ladies, I so appreciate your  confidence
in me and will do my best not to let you down.  As a Resident Guest Designer,
I needed to make 3 card size items.

So, my first item is, (Surprise! Surprise!) an...

" Easel  Card"

The 2Crafty Chipboard pieces used are
Corner Flower Vine
Ornate Buckle
Heidi Vines

The Ornate Buckle was coloured with Spiced Marmalade Distress Ink
 and then clear embossed.

As this is an Easel Card I used half of the Corner Flower Vine to anchor the easel.
This piece was coloured the same as the Ornate Buckle with Spiced marmalade
Distress Ink and clear embossing powder.

When I received the Corner Flower piece it turned out to be a bit bigger than I had
expected but, as chipboard is so adaptable, I knew I would still be able to use it on a
card so I simply cut off the piece needed for this card and still had the left over bit
for another project.  I really love this ornate piece and it fitted the card beautifully.

I needed some leaves to go with my flower cluster so I trimmed some of the leaves from
the Heidi Vine.  I sprayed them with water until they were quite wet.  Then, very
carefully, I gently separated the layers to about half way down the leaf as I
didn't want them to come apart completely.  I then shaped them and left them
to dry.  Once dry, I simply coloured them with Crushed Olive Distress Ink.

I really love how they turned out.

My next  project today is a tag.
2Crafty Chipboard pieces used are...
Corner Flower Vine
Tiny Kathleen Frame
Chicken Barbed Wire Small

As you've probably guessed, I've used the other half of the Corner Flower Vine
which was left over  from the previous card on this tag.

All the chippies on this piece were coloured the same way.  Coated with gesso first
and then lightly coloured with Broken China Distress Ink.   I used Black Soot for
the stamping on the background and on the chippies as well.

The chicken barbed wire comes in a 5" square piece and I
simply cut off a narrow strip to place on the side of my tag.

My last piece  is an AT Block.
2Crafty Chipboard pieces used are
Tiny Edwin Corners
Tiny Henri Frame
ATC Mask
ATC Tiny Hearts & Stars

The block measures 2 3/4" x 2 3/4".

The Tiny Edwin Corners were brushed with gesso and then clear embossed.
The tiny Hearts were coloured with red acrylic paint.  I then applied a little
bit of glitter and coated them with Glossy Accents.

This is the opposite side of the Block which is decorated in a similar way with the
same chipboard pieces.  Don't you just love those gorgeous ornate corners??

The front of the Block has the Tiny Edwin Frame which was also painted with gesso and then just clear embossed.  The ATC Mask was coloured with red acrylic paint and when that was dry I went over the central section of the feather with gesso.  I then coated that section with glitter and used a black Sharpie for the doodles.  Then I simply glued the tiny gems around the top of the mask.
I used the centre piece from the Frame to make the small tag.   Trimmed a little off one edge, rounded the corners a bit more and  then I covered the tag with some designer paper and inked around the edges.

The chippies on the lid were treated the same as those on the sides.
Painted the corner with gesso and then clear embossed and the hearts with
red acrylic paint and covered with Glossy Accents.

I thoroughly enjoyed working with these gorgeous chipboard pieces.
2Crafty have a huge selection of pieces that are the perfect size for cards
and other small projects and, even if you receive something a little bigger than
expected, such as the Corner Flower Vine, it is easily cut up into manageable
 sizes for your projects.

Thank you so much for visiting and I do hope I have inspired you today.
