I'm Back Again.....Di Garling

Hi everyone, so happy to be back yet again with our favourite chipboard people. I am so honoured that Vanessa Tiberti, who owns 2 Crafty, has invited me to be the
"Design Team Co Ordinator".
Woo Hoo I am so excited & on top of that we have the most amazing
NEW Design Team.

Today I want to show you a layout I have done using one of  the
NEW 2 Crafty 11" Viney Page Frames.

I wanted to give the frame a "Faux" wood look  to make it look like real branches.
First up I covered the entire piece with Gesso to prime it & then I set about with some "Impasto Medium" which I just blobbed on very roughly with my finger to make it look rough like a tree branch.

Next up on the branches I dabbed on a couple of coats of  Tim Holtz Distress Stain in "Pumice Stone".
I love this colour.

I painted the leaves with  a Green Metallic paint & when dry I brushed on a little
Tim Holtz "Peeled Paint" Distress Ink to create some highlights.

This entire process was quite easy but it looks quite effective. If you don't have all of these things I'm sure you could achieve a similar effect with various paints & inks.
I have also twisted some vine throughout the branches just to add a touch of realism.

To top it all off, I have also used lots of gorgeous Green Tara
Flowers & Roses to accessorise  my branches &  to complete the whole look.

Lastly  I have used a 2 Crafty ATC Picket Fence which I have simply painted white & very lightly inked around with some more Tim Holtz Pumice Stone Distress Ink, just to make it a little shabby.
2 Crafty do an entire  range of "little" bits & pieces which were originally designed for Cards & ATC's but they work equally as good on a layout too.
I finished off my layout with one of their miniature words "Smile", which I have just painted in a pink acrylic paint & dabbed on a little "Distress Stickles".

"Magical Memories"

Here is another layout I would like to show you.
I have based this on a colour challenge  from "The Color Room" from a month or so ago. As soon as I saw these colours I loved them & new they would go well with some beautiful black chipboard.

I was very fortunate to do some online classes with a lady by the name of
 Solange Marques.
She is on the DT over at The Color Room & she is the Queen of amazing
backgrounds, so I just went for it,  using inspiration from Solange.
 I love backgrounds like this.
This lady  is just so talented & I thank her for passing on some of her amazing skills.

This is a rare layout of myself about to embark on a cruise. I was actually sitting in the
back of a limousine, sipping champagne when my husband took  this shot, hence the title....
Magical Memories , another great title  from 2 Crafty.
Oh & by the way,  it was an amazing holiday.

For all of my 2 Crafty chipboard on this layout, I have chosen to just paint
it in a flat black acrylic paint.
I love using a small amount of plain & simple  black acrylic paint teamed with
lots of really bright colours. I think it really gives the layout some PUNCH....
It doesn't have to be complicated to look good.

Next I have used one of my favourite 2 Crafty chippie flourishes,  Fifi's Flourish
this is such a beautiful flourish, & I think just painting it plain black really lets it
stand alone to show just how beautiful it is.

Lastly I have used a little  Tiny Henri's Frame
for my tag on the left  of the photo. I love these little frames. They are just a perfect size
to pop in at the side of a cluster or where you don't have a lots of room, but still big enough
to put some important details in.

"Everyday Moments"

Well after two "girlie" layouts I thought I had better show you a boy one that a did a few weeks ago. Yes this is a little boy, he is so gorgeous  isn't he, he should have been a girl.

On this layout I have used Cog Nested Frames. These are just fantastic value. I think I counted seventeen different size cogs in the one pack. I also added  a few extra miniature ones, in both metal,  chip & wood  that I had in my stash,  just to add to the whole circular theme.
I have also used another one of the  great
 2 Crafty words, Everyday Moments.
I love the way it comes inside this circle, so it too,  kept with the theme.

I have simply Misted the cogs in a Dark Brown Mist & when dry I have sponged with some metallic Copper ink on to give a metallic feel.

For the words in the circle I simply used some Acrylic Paints & I actually covered the back circle in some scraps of a newsprint type of paper so it gave a good background for the words to show up against.

I have done lots of layers, distressing, sewing & some great boy types of embellies.
It just goes to show boy pages are easy too.

Until next time.
Cheers Di  xo
