Sarah Groen's Summery Post!

Can't believe that it's nearing the end of the month already and its time for my first post
for 2014. Hope you are having a great year so far and those of you in the
Southern hemisphere are having a great summer! My projects have a very summery feel to them.
My first page is..

 'You are my Sunshine'

The 2Crafty products that I have used for this page are:

 'You are my Sunshine' title
Surfy Waves
Chevron Bits
2014's

This is one of my favourite photos that I took of Sophie this holiday. She looks so happy
and full of the joys of life! I wanted my page to be light, bright and airy. I chose these
Basic grey 'Soleil' papers as I really love the colours. I used a mask and texture paste
to make the dotty background. I splattered navy blue ink over the page before layering
up my papers, embellies and photo.
The "surfy waves" border was the perfect embellishment for this page. I painted it with
blue acrylic paint then stamped over the top with bubble wrap and white paint to give a
'foamy' effect. I inked the edged then cut the strip into two sections to layer on my page.

The "2014" dates are so useful. They come in a set of around 10 different sizes and fonts.
I painted mine yellow and adhered it under my photo.
Two of my absolute favourite 2Crafty products are the word phrases and titles and the
chevron bits. I painted my title 'You are my Sunshine' black then outlined the letters
with a white gel pen to make them 'pop'. To emphasise my title I have used the 'waste'
from the "chevron bits" painted black  - when you have used up all the chevrons the
negative frame left behind can be cut up to make even more embellishments!!!

The second page 'Smile' that I have to share with you today also features
pool photos taken from our recent summer vacation.

My son, Jaime and his lovely girlfriend were fooling around by the poolside when he
pushed her into the water. She soon forgave him though and they had a great time
'making up'. The 2Crafty elements on this page are:

Circle revolution frames
loopy word 'smile'
tabs asst
chevron bits

I chose quite a different colour scheme for this page and therefore I left a lot of my
chipboard elements 'naked'. I love the look of raw chipboard, especially with a
neutral colour scheme. I attached the "circle revolution frame" to my page with
cross-stitches to add a little extra interest and detail to the chipboard
(as well as firmly adhering it to the page!). I gave my "smile" title the same
treatment as in my previous layout - black paint and white outline.

I chose a plain tab from the "assorted tabs" to hold my date. I simply adhered it
to my page and layered some patterned paper strips over the top. I machine
stitched the tab in place as a finishing touch.

Finally I added my favourite "chevron bits" (I think I use these on almost every page I create!).
This time I left them naked, but inked the edges to make them stand out a little more.

The papers that I used for this page are from the gorgeous Crate paper 'Flea market' collection.

The final page that I would like to share with you is my current page
for the 'Stuck?' sketches design team.

Here is the sketch that it is based on:

Here are the chipboard elements that I used on this page:

'Life is not measured...' title
flourish adornment set 4
summer leaf stems (unit of 3)
arrows

The longer phrases that 2crafty produce are perfect for titles. The font size is a
little smaller than the font size of the words so that you can easily fit them onto
your page as a title or even layer them over your photo for a contemporary look.
I simple coated this one with black distress paint using a paint dauber.

I painted the "arrow" white, and stamped a chequered pattern onto it
before outlining the piece with a gel pen.

I don't often use flowers in my scrapping, but this gorgeous yellow Prima
bloom matched my page perfectly. I added two smaller hot pink flowers
and the  "flourish adornment" to complete the cluster.

I added lots of layers of die-cuts, stickers and chipboard around my photo
and completed my page with the "summer leaf stem", rub on
'pencil look' chevrons and a few strips of Washi tape.

Well thats all from me for January folks! I hope that I have managed to
inspire you to add a little (or a lot) of 2Crafty goodness to your pages.
Have a great month!!!

Sarah xx
