February scrapping....with Linda Eggleton

Hi there 2crafty fans....welcome to the blog today.

I have 3 layouts featuring 2crafty chipboard to share with you all today, so lets get right to it!

"Time is a great storyteller"
(click on any of the images for a larger/close up view)

For this layout, I wanted to keep my patterned papers to a minimum, so that they wouldn't distract from the chipboard pieces.  I've used 5 pieces of 2crafty chipboard - One of the clock faces from the Clock Face Frames, Corner Arch, Cartia's Swirl, Mini Fob Watch & Time is a Great Storyteller title

Here you can see the fabulous title - Time is a Great Storyteller,
which I thought was the perfect title for my photo of the Penitentiary at Port Arthur....I'm sure it has many a story it could tell over the years that it housed convicts in this penal settlement!
I have simply dabbed it in gesso & then lightly painted with Denim Blue Glimmermist....making sure that I didn't completely cover it with the glimmermist & also making some parts darker than others, to give a mottled type effect.

The Corner Arch has only been coated in gesso a few times....nice & simple :)

Here is a close up of the gorgeous Cartia's Swirl...again, simply coated with gesso & then randomly painted with Suede Glimmermist

And the Clock Face Frame has also been left just coated in gesso....which still looks fabulous without a heap of techniques applied :)

And lastly....the Mini Fob Watch I've coated in gesso & then painted in glimmermist.

As you can see, the techniques on the chipboard pieces for this  layout, were all really simple & quick ones.  So when you don't have a lot of time, you can still come up with fabulous results with these quick & easy techniques using your 2crafty chippies :)

Now for my 2nd layout...which you will see is something a little bit different from me, perhaps there's a bit of inspiration from Leonie & Chantal in the colour department on this one!

"Dream Big"

I've used 3 different pieces of 2crafty on this layout....

The Dream Big title I firstly coated the whole thing in Gesso and once that was dry, I painted the "Dream" part in yellow & "Big" in white acrylic paint.  I then went to drying it with my new heatgun....and you might say that I must have been a wee bit too close, as the paint started to bubble up!! LOL  But, hey, I love the effect that it gave!   I then inked over the "Dream" part to highlight some of those raised bubbles.....and I outlined around "Big" with a journal pen.

I loved the above techniques so much that I also applied it to the larger plain red Star ....with a swipe of Gesso added here & there also.  The smaller star I covered in Washi Tape...simple, yet effective.

And yep...I was at it again... Same bubbled paint effect for the 12" Music Notes decorative border which has had a few inches cut off it, as I didn't want it to reach completely across my page.

Photo is of my DS playing in his band
and I truly do hope that he dreams big & his music takes him many places :)

Ok, now for my last layout for this month, that you may have already seen.
It was created for sketch #51 at Keeping The Best.

"Wreck Beach"

I really love how this layout came out...again, using 3 pieces of 2crafty chippy pieces - Summer Leaf Stem,  Bracket Frames & a scrap piece that I had leftover & was cut from Ornate Fence  piece

I absolutely LOVE this Summer Leaf Stem piece....I don't think I could ever have enough of it!
I have coated it in Gesso mixed with Impasto Medium....then painted it in a mixture of acrylic paints to get the colour I wanted...I then lightly inked in Pinecone ink.  I'm not sure if the photo shows the texture real well....but IRL it looks fantastic :)
(click on the pic if you want to see it larger & up close)

This is the leftover scrap piece that I cut from the Ornate Fence  piece on a previous layout....and then simply painted in a dark red acrylic paint.

The Bracket Frame I cut in half then inked in black
& tucked a piece at either end of my photo......
......with them off centred from each other.
Photo is from our recent trip down to The Great Ocean Road in Victoria....wow what a spectacular experience it all was!

Okie doke peeps.....that's me done & dusted for another month.
If you'd like to see more of my creations, then I'd love for you to pop on over to my BLOG
