'All Aboard' With Trudi Harrison

Altered Box -  "Le Cirque"

"Main Carriage"

Hi Everyone,
Trudi with you today on the 2Crafty Blog.  This month I have gone beyond the page
with some altered boxes that I have been collecting.

Each box has been altered in a circus theme and when joined together create a little 'Le Cirque' fun. The boxes could easily be decorated and embellished in any theme. With Christmas approaching a 'Polar Express' theme would also make for a lovely table centre piece for the Christmas table.

For the main carriage, I covered the larger of the boxes with coordinating patterned papers. With a sharp craft knife a section was then removed from one the sides of the box and shutters from the Window Shutter Set affixed on either side of the opening with metal hinges.
Smaller Fleur de Lise's create shutter handles.

A veranda over the end door of the carriage was fashioned from one of tabs from the
Tabs Asst Pack. This was slightly curved before attaching in place.

Decorative elements were added by cutting up Mixed Border Strips. A Tiny Henri's Frame
was cut in half to create a barrier and tabs create a hitching point for the carriage.

A stage was created with one of the negative solid circles from the Star Badges set and a Scalloped Star Border wrapped around the outer edge. A Star Badge with a touch of gold glitter embossing powder decorates the top.

Fussy cut circus images were added for fun and flair.

"Second Carriage"

For this tea box I rotated the box to create a slightly taller carriage. The box again covered with coordinating papers and a window effect created by removing a segment from the side. I used the negative piece removed from the Tiny Henri's frame to trace around to create the size of the opening.  This piece was then cut in half and creates the shutters on either side of the frame.

A Tiny Henri's Frame accents the window. I also cut around the negative of where the
Henri's frame was pushed out to create another frame which sits behind.

A Round Ornate Frame was cut in half and embellishes the top of the carriage.
A Star Badge sits on top with some flags created by cutting Plain Triangles in half.

A star from the Star Badges was heat embossed with antique gold
embossing powder and adorns the front.

Another door and veranda were fashioned from leftover chipboard from the Window Shutter Set.

"Third Carriage"

The tea box has been covered with different papers from the same range for a slightly
different look. Using the same papers from a collection lends to a coordinated look.

The decorative accent for the top of this carriage created with a Vintage Oval Frame cut in half.  Another Star Badge adorns the front with Mixed Border Strips adding detail to the carriage.

A Balance Beam and See Saw were created from leftover chipboard pieces and cotton reels.

Again verandah's and doors created from chipboard off cuts.
