Butterfly banner necklace-Tammy Leaver

I freaked out when I knew it was my turn to do a technique focus for the blog, you see I am really not a technique scrapper. I love patterned paper and am a failry simple scrapper, but when I recieved the new buttefly banner in my goodie box I knew exactly what  I wanted to do...
  I found an old necklace and decided to recycle it to make a new necklace that makes a statement.
 I started by gathering all the supplies I thought I would need, patterned paper, pliers, jump rings, glazes, inks, a file and the butterfly banner pieces.
 I began by inking the butterflies with two different inks- ranger ink pumice stone and straw. No real plan just ink as you like until you are happy with the colour mix.

I then coated the pieces with a layer of glaze and added my papers, tearing off small pieces and gluing them down as I liked, layering to create a nice effect with the butterfly fully covered (don't worry if pieeces hang over we will remove those later.)

The next step is to give another layer of dimond glaze tinted with inks. A great way to do this is to stamp your ink pad onto a non-porus surface then blend the glaze into the ink. I don't own a heat gun to speed up the drying process so I popped the pieces under the grill LOL. I then stamped with pumice stone ink over the butterflies.

I added a small word that I had inked, then gave another coat of the diamond glaze, I allowed the glaze to bubble under the grill for a nice effect

Adding my jump rings to the banner was made easier as I kept the holes by sticking a pin through them after every step.

Finally I added them to my necklace an tahdah all finished a lovely new recycled necklace.
